When it comes to processing raw garbage into livestock feed, the highest levels of safety must be achieved due to the fact that human beings are the end-consumers of the meat. During the Okadora process a 100 deg. C. sterilizing boil is operated first, followed by a high-temperature sterilization at 133 degrees C. for 25 minutes, which is over the European Safety Regulations. This strict measure arises from the incidents of C.J.D. (mad-cow disease) in Europe. At the time European operators failed to observe regulations and this caused repeated outbreaks of the disease.
Okadora achieves the destruction of cellular tissue in organic matter by carrying out a complete boil & dry process. After completion of the process, the broken down cellular tissue is no longer capable of absorbing any moisture nor is it possible to decompose it any further. In addition, after high-temperature sterilization, the fat content of the material is reduced down to a 10% level, which enables a high quality of end product to be maintained, without fat oxidization. Consequently, with livestock feed made by Okadora processing methods, you are assured of high quality.
In cases where raw garbage is dried by the Cyclone Dryer on site, the dried product is stored on site (depending on the quantity to be stored) and then collected and transported to the Okadora plant. Once there, this dried product is processed into livestock feed through high-temperature sterilization and oil extraction.
In the Okadora plant, the collected raw garbage is not stored long prior to processing. Therefore it does not cause any bad smells, except a slight odour during cooking. The waste steam generated during the process is conducted to the Teinenpi Deodorizer, where any odors and polluting substances are broken down into non-pollutants under high-temperature oxidization and emitted into the atmosphere. Throughout the entire process no waste water is produced.
In the Okadora plant. a steam boiler is installed as the source of heating, providing steam to heat up both the dryer and the high-temperature sterilization apparatus. In order to prevent air pollution, town gas is used as a source of clean energy for the boiler.
