Sankyo Design Co.Ltd, the forerunner to Okadora Co.Ltd, was established in March 1970 for the purpose of designing plant for the chemical and oil-refining fields. In 1976 Sankyo Design provided a design for the Sulfur Recovery Unit to Showa Oil Co.Ltd (today Showa-Shell Oil), and this was the first example of a domestic technology based on an original thermal theory. The following year, 1977, was a notable one for Sankyo Design in that, for the first time amongst Japanese technologies, we played a role in the design and manufacture of the Hydrocarbon Steam Recovery Plant at the Komaki Airbase for the Ground Self Defense Agency. Due to the high level of engineering skills shown in this first original design for a domestic company, Sankyo Design and Showa Oil were able to come to an agreement for technical collaboration.

At this time, as everyone knows, the oil crisis cast an economic shadow over the world and ‘energy saving’ became a household word all over the world. At the same time the serious problem of pollution was emerging and toxic substances and foul smells discharged from production units were causing serious air and groundwater contamination. To serve and cope with the growing worldwide needs for energy saving and the control of pollution, Sankyo Design developed some unique technologies. For example, we innovated the Oil Blender which mixes oil, of both high and low qualities, in a sizing micron unit, thus allowing a substantial saving in burning costs. Another innovation was the Four Type Mixing Oil Burner, which has proved itself capable of almost 100% burn-up efficiency – e.g. the mixing and burning of low-grade oils with oils derived from fish and other marine organisms.
